Supplementary (Panjiri) Food Processing Line

Different kinds of roasted flour were used to develop the supplementary food (Panjiri) from wheat, chickpea and soy flours with and without mixing of 10% skimmed milk powder and appropriate sugar (35%). The sensory quality characteristics of the products revealed that the mean score values for various sensory attributes viz; colour, flavour, taste, texture and overall acceptability varied from 6.0 to 8.8 It is observed that supplementary food fortified with 10% skimmed milk powder did not affect the sensory quality characteristics of the products. The values remained more or less the same Supplementary foods were formulated from locally available Flours of cereal grain and legumes such as wheat Flour, soybean Flour,maize flour and chick pea Four using household technologies like blending and roasting. The proximate composition of product used for preparation of supplementary food fortified with 10% skimmed milk powder contained higher amount of protein and other nutrients. They contained proteins (16.2 to 21.1%), fat (1.9 to 4.5%), fiber (1.28 to 1.78%), ash (0.7 to 1.40%) and carbohydrates (67.66 to 77.2%). Also showed that soy our / chickpea flour alone or in combination, both increased the amount of protein signifcantly. Soy flour fortication was considered the best because it is rich in protein with good product acceptability. The total energy expressed in terms of Kcal per 100 g of product varied from 350.7 to 395.8. The various minerals viz., calcium, phosphorus and iron were found to increase on supplementation with 10% skimmed milk powder. Shelf life of the product was good in both polyethylene and laminate packaging materials for the period of three months.

BUCKET CONVEYOR

Discription of bucket conveyor

A bucket elevator can elevate a variety of bulk materials from light to heavy and from fine to large lumps. A centrifugal discharge elevator may be vertical or inclined. Vertical elevators depend entirely on the action of centrifugal force to get the material into the discharge chute and must be run at speeds relatively high. Inclined elevators with buckets spaced apart or set close together may have the discharge chute set partly under the head pulley. Since they don't depend entirely on the centrifugal force to put the material into the chute, the speed may be relatively lower. Nearly all centrifugal discharge elevators have spaced buckets with rounded bottoms. They pick up their load from a boot, a pit, or a pile of material at the foot pulley. The buckets can be also triangular in cross section and set close to on the belt with little or no clearance between them. This is a continuous bucket elevator. Its main use is to carry difficult materials at slow speed.

Early bucket elevators used a flat chain with small, steel buckets attached every few inches. While some elevators still are manufactured with a chain and steel buckets, most current bucket elevator construction uses a rubber belt with plastic buckets. Pulleys several feet in diameter are used at the top and bottom. The top pulley is driven by an electric motor.The bucket elevator is the enabling technology that permitted the construction of grain elevators. A diverter at the top of the elevator allows the grain to be sent to the chosen bin. A similar device with flat steps is occasionally used as an elevator for humans, e.g., for employees in parking garages. (This sort of elevator is generally considered too dangerous to allow use by the public.)

HOPPER BOTTOM SILOS FOR GRAIN STORAGE

 

Discription of storage silo for grain

A silo is a structure for storing bulk materials. Silos are used in agriculture to store grain (see grain elevators) or fermented feed known as silage. Silos are more commonly used for bulk storage of grain, coal, cement, carbon black, woodchips, food products and sawdust.

Hopper Bottom Silos are generally built on fabricated steel structures with conical bottom made of steel plates and the corrugated sheets preformed are assembled with bolts and nuts on circular purlins and vertical stiffeners with water proof washers , cylindrically above the conical hopper with a slopped roof in the top. Ladders to clim b and get into the silos, handrails, manholes etc are provided. The grains will be discharged by gravity to the bucket elevator/belt conveyor for onward conveying. These silos can also be built on the top of concrete conical hopperhopper bottom silos. Normally these silos are recommended for storage upto 500 tones of grains like paddy having density of less than 550kg/m3. with beams and columns built in situ. Aeration, ventilation, temperature monitoring system as required are all provided to the built

About ribbon blender design

Ribbon blender are widely used for homogeneous mixing of dry granules and powders. The blender comprises a "U" tank, shaft with two sets of spiral ribbons, one inside the other. Inner and outer ribbons are perfectly arranged, that during rotation, the material reaches each corner of the trough and imparts radial and linear motion to the whole of the material to be mixed. Our range of ribbon blender are based on a proven agitator construction that provides a triple mixing action ensuring fast, efficient blending. As the agitator rotates in ribbon blender, the material is tumbled and carried radically around the inside of the blender. The pitch of the outer ribbon moves the material towards the discharge opening. The inner ribbon which has an opposing pitch moves the material away from the discharge opening.

SCREW CONVEYOR

Discription of screw conveyor

A screw conveyor or auger conveyor is a mechanism that uses a rotating helical screw blade, called a "flighting", usually within a tube, to move liquid or granular materials. They are used in many bulk handling industries. Screw conveyors in modern industry are often used horizontally or at a slight incline as an efficient way to move semi-solid materials, including food waste, wood chips, aggregates, cereal grains, animal feed, boiler ash, meat and bone meal, municipal solid waste, and many others. The first type of screw conveyor was the Archimedes' screw, used since ancient times to pump irrigation water.

They usually consist of a trough or tube containing either a spiral blade coiled around a shaft, driven at one end and held at the other, or a "shaftless spiral", driven at one end and free at the other. The rate of volume transfer is proportional to the rotation rate of the shaft. In industrial control applications the device is often used as a variable rate feeder by varying the rotation rate of the shaft to deliver a measured rate or quantity of material into a process.

A flexible screw conveyor works by using the internal friction within a powder or bulk solid to transfer the forward motion of the powder in contact with the spiral to the whole tube contents. With an angled system, a dynamic equilibrium is set up with the spiral action moving some particles upwards.

Screw conveyors can be operated with the flow of material inclined upward. When space allows, this is a very economical method of elevating and conveying. As the angle of inclination increases, the capacity of a given unit rapidly decreases.

The rotating part of the conveyor is sometimes called simply an auger.
